My art is about light, the movement and play of light on form.  The subject may be a figure, or a landscape, revealed and captured in such a way that the act of creating the piece is evident to the viewer.

Painting and sculpture are resolved form, compositions that draw the viewer to return again and again.  How can an artist achieve the pure emotion evoked by music or the stimulation and excitement of a moving film image in a painting or sculpture?  What I work to capture is the feeling that inspired me to paint in the beginning in the gesture of the painting process.  I want my work not to obscure this process but to celebrate it.

I completed a Masters Degree in Fine Arts in Painting at Cornell University and a Masters in Art History at Stanford.  For one year I was a student at the Academia di Belle Arte in Florence, Italy, before completing my comprehensive examinations for a Ph.D. in Art History at Stanford.  I have taught art in college, high school and elementary school. 

I work in the mediums of watercolor, acrylic and clay.  My pieces are in many private collections in the US, Canada, Asia and Europe. After a career in Remote Sensing in British Columbia, Canada, I moved to Washington State to be near family and have found inspiration in the landscape and seascape of the Olympic Peninsula.

My art is currently represented by the Blue Whole Gallery in Sequim, Washington.
