Terry Vogel's colorful collages and assemblages reflect her playful
nature, her love of paper, and the challenge of finding the perfect
place to incorporate the found objects she collects, many from unlikely
sources, most of them humble objects now finding new lives as "art."
Her more reflective side is manifest in her drawings and mixed media
work, and in some of the press-mold paper bowls she crafts from heavy
handmade papers and decorates with beads, stones, feathers, eggs,
paints, and copper wire. Her "spirit bowls" honor friends whose lives
she celebrates, and often feature objects which represent an essential
aspect of their natures.
Terry has lived in the Pacific Northwest for several years and believes
that she has found her spiritual as well as her temporal home on the
Northwest Olympic Peninsula. Her surroundings have opened her eyes to
seeing her world in a way which can best be expressed through art and
poetry.
